I have a phenom II 945 processor that I bought in 09 and has always done well for me. The motherboard fried and I thought it was a socket am2 but I've read that this processor is am3 compatible. Would anyone know if this is true. I dont want to spend money on an am3 motherboard if it won't work.
The writing on the cpu is
AMD Phenom II
HDX945FBK4DGI
CACYC AC 0913FPMW
9187824D90533

Anyway im not sure if I should go with an am2 motherboard or try am3
my last motherboard was Asus m4a78 pro
