A large Japanese conglomerate, made a few IC's
Never had heard of them before

Yeah, they make SRAMs and some analog stuff as well

For another uncommon japanese manufacturer there's NKK, they made R4700 CPUs

yah and other MIPs processors (I have a NR4645)

If you want I can get several Asahi Kasei 62256 SRAMS. They look identical to Hitachi (both the package and the font printed on the chip)
