As a collector of CPUs, i will try to see the future of market of vintage electronics and i think we are near a end of a era because of gold and metal recycling.
Last 5-10 years almost all vintage electronics are destroy for recycling and a few of us have collected just a very small part.
I predict that in the next 5 years almost every PCs with old CPUs with ceramic/pins sockets are gone and the prices of old vintage CPUs are going to duplicate or triplicate in the next 5 years...
This is my opinion as a newbie and recent collector, and i love to hear some predictions about the future of this hobby.
Hurts me very much to see a great piece o technology like the CPUs, completed destroyed in a rush for gold fever...
My best regards and sorry my bad English

Scrap prices went down last year from 30-50%.
CPU collecting is immortal like with old coins. |

Yes i get some of my cpus here in Portugal of 2 or 3 small places, and they tell me that 5 years ago they receive the triple of the computers of ceramic for scrap that receive this year and 2013
In the next few years (5-8years) we maybe see a huge drop in the market of used ceramic and oldies cpus...and the prices are getting up and up...
The huge increase price of gold in the 2008-2013 kill a great share old cpus, i love to see some numbers of percentage if any one knows somes..

guess that's not known, maybe you get an info on how many tons have been recycled but there is no comparison of cpus, roms, ages.
get what you can, enjoy as long as you can and hope for a nice new home when you need the money, lol _________________ You may use the photos I have posted here under CC BY-NC-SA license. |
