I checked several Japanese sites:

http://homepage2.nifty.com/necom/pc100/1982.html
http://d.hatena.ne.jp/chamekan/20110107/p4
http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOS_6502

http://synthfooljp.blog87.fc2.com/blog-entry-264.html

They all say that YAMAHA YM2002 is an extended version of MOS 6502, with two zero-page addressing modes. This is a surprising discovery also for me.

The chip was used in YAMAHA YIS personal computer, which appeared in December 1981. There were two versions, which differ in the graphics capability. One uses YM2002 also as a CRT controller and can display only texts. The other uses Z8001 (!) and can display graphics of 512 x 384 dots.
