I just bought this board as a scrap lot hoping it has some good chips in the sockets.
Can anyone guess what the white Intel chips might be on this out of focus picture?
I'll post a clear picture of the board once I receive it in a few days. _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

That was my hope, but I didn't see any 4001 or 4002's so I wasn't sure.
I can't believe my luck if you're right!!! _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

Wow congratulation! Looking forward to see better pictures of the chips.
But didn't the need for 4001's (Metal Mask Rom's = had to be made by Intel) go away with the use of the interface chips 4008/4009 using (user Programmable) EPROM's instead? |

The Mystery Board Finally arrived today 17 days after I bought it and you guys were correct-
It has a C4004, C4008 & C4009 in sockets as well as a daughterboard on the bottom with RAM and B1702A EPROMs.
I'm thrilled to finally get a C4004 white after all the suspense of the wait and uncertainty.
The board is from a 2200 Series of WANG computer from the 1970's.
NOTE: The bad news...I just noticed that one leg on the C4008 is broken and others have rust. I'm going to spray some WD-40 solvent on all the chips' legs and try to remove them from the sockets, before the corrosion gets worse. _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html

I cost me $60 for the risk. Well worth it now that I see that the chips are what I was hoping for. _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

I was surprised to trip across this find in it's original board 43 years after the 4004 was introduced. It means that the "thrill of the hunt" is still there for everyone that is looking for a rare chip.
I removed the C4004 from the socket and it's dated "7549" on the bottom. _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |
