|
|
I've just got 3 military memory boards from ebay, they are same as the board discussed here:
http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18972
I was very curious about what's under the cover, and luckily, this time one of the boards is not in very good condition and the cover is missing. Here are the pics:
The structure is really frustrating and doesn't seems to be a core memory. After some search on the internet I found a patent announced in 1967 which seems identical to the design of this board:
http://www.google.com/patents/US3312961
The figure is almost the same as the routing on the memory.
So I guess this is a so called 'Coincident current magnetic plate memory'? Am I right?
BTW how should I hide the attachments in a post? They are really annoying. _________________ Tracing 4004 all over the world |

Hello,
it's a magnetic plate memory card (a type of magnetic thin-film memory, the working principle is similar to that of the plated-wire memory used in some Univac 1100-series mainframes). This card came from an airborne military computer (F-15 Eagle, I think). I have a very similar one shown in my website http://ummr.altervista.org/core_memories.htm. My card is unopened.
