One of my favorite CPU is i8080. Because there are rather few possibilities for checking they working condition, I decided to develop a small, simple test-board for testing this kind of CPUs.
Now it is done. It is a bit similar to lhf_james’s 4004 test-board.
It requires a single +5V power supply trough a mini-USB connector. Can be powered by a cell-phone charger or PC’s USB port.
It consists of the base parts of MCS-80 system: a i8224 clock generator and an i8228 bus controller and a 40-pin ZIF socket for easy change of the 8080 CPU.
It has 8 LEDs as output and 4 push-buttons as input devices. An i2716 EPROM holds a small program that reads the button’s state and flashes the LEDs accordingly for checking the working condition of the inserted CPU. _________________ ----------------------------------------------------------

I already soldered 3 pieces. One is sent to CPUShack, an other is reserved for Mixeur and I keep the third. lol
But I have a few empty PCBs, so if there are interest I can solder them in some days for sale. They will contain all components (including CPU – Tungsram 8080APC or Intel P8080A-1) to be ready to work.
They cost $48 each + shipping on cost.
New v2.1 firmware is attached. 01.22.2015
It fixes the cosmetics problem evaluating i8085 CPUs with the expansion board.
- The i8085 CPU divides the clock by two, therefore all LED animations will take twice as long to complete - it is fixed now. _________________ ----------------------------------------------------------
