|

Does any one know if it is possible to upgrade the TL-66 to to a ZM-86 on a Hp Dv9820ea.
The TL-66 is a S1G1 socket and the ZM-86 is a S1G2 socket.
Any help greatly appreciated. |

I don't think the ZM-86 will work. The fastest for you laptop is probably TL-68.

Thanks Gennadiy,
looking at other other similar posts about the same sort of thing clearly shows a consensus of opinion that the S1 socket generations G1 G2 G3 & G4 are not compatible with each other and even if they were the different types of CPU would have to be accepted by the BIOS of the particular machine that you are were trying to upgrade. The Bios part probably being the greatest hurdle of all as Bios are machine specific. I have upgraded my daughters Dv9820ea to a TL-68 even though the TL-66 is the fastest chip shown in the manual for it.
Thanks again
