Hi guys,
Good Morning Steve
I've visited "Quasar" here in Kiev (where the very first soviet CPU was manufactured in 1977) hoping to find/scrounge some chips/wafers in a forgotten basement
Not too successfully as for chips, but...
I've got these two pieces of silicon.
Aren't they lovely?
The cylinder has diameter of one inch exactly
Is it for 1" wafers?
And what is the cube for ?
I don't know why, but the cube is much heavier/denser than the cylinder.
Why ? _________________ My Want List: http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22729

What a nice couple of objects - MAYBE the block is not silicon hence heavier? I often dream that I can find the Intel factory in Hong Kong and in a dark store room find some old C4004's in a nice NOS box...... does anyone know where the address of that factory would have been? _________________ best rgds.

Bingo!
the bloc's sizes approximately are 2,8x3,4x3,6 cm = 34,272 cc
and it weights 182 g
the density is about 5,31
where is my handbook on the Physics ???
so... it's a bloc of pure Germanium!
Thanks! _________________ My Want List: http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22729
