|
|
Finally I found something VERY unusual - worth to be discussed here!
A couple of months ago I purchased this nice Intel x1201 chip for small money. According to the Wikipedia, "1201" was the former designation of 8008 and the "x" prefix means that the chip is an engineering sample. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_8008
Does anybody have ever seen one before or have additional information about this chip? Is there any way to test it? I heard there was a collector's guide to vintage chips: http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13108. I don't have the book - was the chip mentioned there?
P.S.: The chip is not for sale or trade and I don't have another one. Don't even ask! |

That is an amazing find. If you could test it and it worked as an 8008, then a very rare cpu _________________ My former Intel collection:

| Given that another rare variety of an 8008 changed hands for close to $5000 a few years ago, this chip, if it tests out as an 8008, could be a record breaker. |

OK, I gladly give you the permission.
I also have a hi-res version of the picture. Do you need it? |

Is there any possibility to test the chip? As far as I know there are test setups for 4004 and 8080, but I never heard of a 8008 test board.
BTW, a lot of new collectors are interested in your guide. If you offer it for sale in this forum you will sell at least 10-15 copies of it! |
