| Is it possible to damage the motherboard with chipset HM65 by inserting the first generation i7-720QM processor? Previous motherboard was HM55 and the processor work. After ordering a new motherboard with chipset HM65, put i7-720QM processor motherboard does not start. Seller claims that the board could be damaged because the processor should be second generation. Is this true? Both motherboards have socket PGA989. |

| No, as long as it was the proper socket, worst case, the board just won't boot, as the CPUID / VID was unsupported by the board. |
