I have wondered (for years now) what made DAT (Digital Audio Tape) so "exclusive" , compared to various oxide-type Audio Cassette Tapes? Also,...I was wondering if the DAT types actually were designed FROM the ".TAR" - principles of BIGGER (size AND length) tapes? I don't actually use anything but regular audio tape write now, but, have the "devices" for using a SCSI-I type of TAR-Tape available.
Last question, on THIS topic...Was the various "ZIP"-drive types (both SCSI- and PARALLEL- and whatever else) TAPE inside the Disk?
Thanks, in advance, for all the help
Bye for now...
Sincerely,...

They are very different - DAT is digital format, audio cassette is analog.
First potentially has higher quality, much better signal to noise ratio, dynamic range,
and do not degrade over time and no matter how many times you use it (to the sane physical limit of course).
ZIPs are disks (like floppy disks), not tapes. |

Hey There...
Thanks for the info...I was pretty sure that , overall, it was the BETTER MAGNETIC, METALLIC TAPE, in the DATs rather than the AUDIOs.
And, I had always wondered about the ZIPs....
Thanks again!
Sincerely,...
