I am looking to upgrade my dual-core processor to a quad core tonight, so I am looking for some suggestions. Currently I was looking at the Phenom x4 9950, but I am not sure if a AM2+ processor will work correctly in an AM2 motherboard. Does anybody know if this processor will work fine? Otherwise a suggestion that's compatible with my motherboard would be awesome 
Current CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
Motherboard: ASUSTek Computer INC. NODUSM3 (Socket AM2 ) |

| Looks like your current 6000+ is about what the official max is for that board. AM2+ needs split plane and much more powerful VRM than what that board has available. |
