Just wondering if anyone knows what the markings on Intel 386 cpus mean.
The double sigma on 386 means its been tested for the 32bit software bug, but what does the IV mean? And what does the I mean when located straight after the speed indication? _________________ General failure reading disk in drive A

IV means CHMOS IV process (1 um).
Without IV - CHMOS III (1.5 um). |

I wonder why Intel thought that the manufacturing process upgrade was important enough to warrant a marking on the chip? _________________ General failure reading disk in drive A

Especially as, if I understand it correct, the IV's are not necessarily double Sigmas... |
