http://www.ebay.de/itm/Intel-C4004-CPU-Ceramic-Gold-Zebra-Grey-Traces-World-039-s-First-Microprocessor-1975-/121675383209

sold @ US $1.533,87

I thought to buy this, but the unkown working condition and the slightly shifted gold cap kept me from a higher bid dispense.

And old question, what you think of the achieved price? Is it worth it?

Have nice evening!

it was in very nice condition but by the intel production number is not a very old example.
personally think US$1200 - 1300 more realistic of value

Thank you, this confirmed exactly what i thought and therefore i placed no higher bid.

Even when you dont know if it is in working condition.

Is there any hint/photos which is oldest c4004 in a collection?

will check my work records, but 4004s in busicoms will be one of the earliest
From memory they were grey trace with production codes starting with Bxxxx
the earliest will have no date on bottom for starters (didn't use mark dates until late 1974)

The only thing is that 4004s were almost all soldered onto boards. Sockets were rarely used, as most were used in industrial applications
