I have an Asus k50ip laptop (windows 10, pent t4500cpu, socket NVIDIA pga478, chipset Nvidia mcp79, 2x2 DDR2 PC2-6400S ram, bios ver. 202) and I want to upgrade the CPU. Do you think I could put a Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 CPU in.

I'd venture a guess that the T9500 will be the fastest CPU you can use. The T9600 uses a 1066MHz FSB, which I don't believe that laptop will support. Asus did offer that laptop with a T6600, which is the same family as the T9500 (Penryn core, socket P)
