Hello to all.

I have seen in this web that there are some photos of processors 486 with the heatsynq hit.
This surprises to me because some days ago a friend and me we discover a way to separateboth pieces without the processor damages. It is a matter of begin to boil the processor in hot watter for some minutes and to separate the heatsynq doing lever with a knife.

In the following link you can see more details including photos (spanish text): www.hard2mano.com/viewtopic.php?t=12322

To remove the remaining adhesive is a simple as to use a contact cleaner liquide and to rub.

Note 1: To translate the text to english you can to use www.traducegratis.com (copy and paste)
Note 2: Sorry because my english is so poor (I use www.traducegratis.com to posting here Embarassed )

P.D: In the same web you can contemplate a link of 119 old computers photos carried out by me. Is here: http://www.hard2mano.com/viewtopic.php?t=12028

You would kill the processor forever if you did that! It's 100 C, you know! Shocked

EZ Guide....

1) Get a big bench vice. Fixed to a bench is best.

2) Clamp the HEATSINK ONLY in the bench vice. Pins facing up! Clamp only as much of the heatsink as needed. Dont clamp to the ceramic line, try be as far awa from that as possible.

3) Gently compress the heatsink. It will begin to warp.

4) Pull the cpu off.

This has worked for me 100% every time, 100's of cpus. No boiling. A simply wipe with cleaner removes any residue.

Sorry JAC because I can't understand your text so fine.

Why you say 'noooo boilling? It don't cause damages to processors. I have a i486DX2-50 separated from his own heatsynq using the boilling and it is working full.

Yeah JAC, that's a good way to do the same thing but I haven't that tool at home (I think nobody have one at home).

The boilling way is more accessible for everyone and it doesn't cause damages.

EDIT: with boilling the heatsynq continues being util
