The full name is RV12P2000, a universal pentode developed during WW2.
It was still in production until 1948 in Germany. In the former GDR this type was used and produced until the 60's!
Nice find!

There never was a nuvistor model "930", and the datasheet you linked to is that of a IR photodetector. Based on the picture I'd say that your nuvistor is in fact a RCA 7586 (it's stamped on top, as in most nuvistors) which is a triode. I have a few of them, along with other types of nuvistors.

My favorite tube type which I am actively using and building new instruments with, is the photomultiplier. They are still being made new because despite advances in semiconductors there still isn't anything that can really replace them. Not even the SiPM (silicon photomultipliers) can do everything a real vacuum PMT can.
I build scintillation detectors with them for detection of gamma radiation.
My second favorite tube type is the thyratron. Want a few thousand amps at a few kV switched in a few nanoseconds? Try to do that with silly-con and watch it lose its magic smoke. |
