I have a k8n asus motherboard with an amd sempron 3400+. I strictly edit video with this machine. Motherboard has a socket 754 cpu. I read where I can upgrade to an Athlon 3700+. My question is will this really help me much to speed up editing and rendering video? Email habby@gtcom.net

Sempron 3400+ is about as fast as Athlon 64 3100+, so upgrading to Athlon 64 3700+ will give you maximum performance increase of 20%. Since video rendering is both CPU and memory intensive task, and Athlon 64 is faster and has larger L2 cache than your Sempron, then I guess you will see 15% - 20% speed increase.
