How does overclock effect a motherboard change

This a noob question for sure.

I have in mind doing a slight upgrade of motherboard in the AMD III+
range. I have a couple of Phenom IIs 3 core.

The old board is the Biostar MCP6PB M2+ If my replacement motherboard which I'm targeting as the MSI 760GMA-P34 (FX) AM3+, would that board's claimed ability to unlock cores work across two motherboards? In other words and simply put, does the unlock "take" and stay part of the cpu?

The CPU is a Phenom x3 8450 HD8450ODJ3BGH

Or perhaps this is not able to unlock?

And last, is there a list of motherboard software for core unlocks and compatible cpus which may appear on the used market?

AFAIK the board can use a 4-core CPU marked as a 3-core part (aka one with a "disabled core") as a 4-core one (= "unlock" it), but won't make any permanent change to the CPU itself so the other board will see it the same way, as a 3-core processor.
