Found these in a box of a few thousand chips, apparently the C8080s are rare.
How rare would you rate this and how much would you say they are worth.
They are MC8080A/B (Military). One has a CS stamp. |

The MC8080A CS was often found in the Intel university kits (and almost always they were chipped) so possibly where they put damaged (but working) chips
How are the pins? They often suffered poorly from black foam death _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

Thank you for the info.
The pins look very good, with light residue from the foam.
I have a ton of other Intel chips the same size. I will be selling them on ebay soon.
How many people are interested? |

The truth probably lies somewhere in between the two extremes. The CS especially will get a lot of interest on eBay. Please let us all know when you list your stuff or what your eBay ID is so we can monitor! _________________ best rgds.

artilect, the ebay link you posted is for a non "A" version of the 8080. This variety carries a high premium price due to their historical & rarity value.
Military versions of any processors carry a premium, but not to the extant of early processor variants
As for CS "customer sample" markings on Intel chips this may carry a small premium, but in the end they were only used to void any warranty on the processor. |

| Do you have any damaged chips in that box with rusty pins falling off or other major damage? I might be interested in them to take die shots of them, but usually good chips from that era get way too expensive for me. |

The non-CS one has been listed, I know the buy it now price is high and don't expect anybody to pay it, it's just to let those know this is a rare chip:

For my profile, if you want to follow me for more chips, I have a lot.

Most of the chips are in good condition, what but yes a couple are broken and bent. I have a lot to offer. I took a quick pic of what I have to go through, let me know if any pop out:
What is the last number? I noticed yours looks almost identical except you had a higher number? |

Yes, I was pretty happy with the result.
I have the next CPU scheduled at a later date, I started a thread here about it:
http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27180
Scheduled to start at later date to be sure those interested get a chance to know about it.
It will start and end at 6pm Thursday May 19th US Pacific Time on a Thursday and be a 10 day auction so it ends on a Sunday. |
