Thanks for the orders! I'll do my best to get your testers ASAP.
I've just finished testing my 8086/8088 + 8087.
From 88 CPUs all work but one. 8 FPUs all work. _________________ ----------------------------------------------------------

Can you describe how it works exactly ? |
Are you interested in SW or HW? |
Hardware |
So, briefly the key features:
- the test-board has 8 bit memories (8K ROM + 2 or 8K RAM)
- the address latch is formed by 4 x 4bit parallel loaded counters
- the memory access is separated from CPU. There are 2 x 8bit buffer for output and 2 x 8bit latch for input data transfer.
- a wait state / memory access logic circuit controls the real memory read/write, while the CPU is in wait state. In case of 16bit data transfer the address counters are incremented between the transfer of the two bytes. And when the data transfer (between buffer -> memory or memory -> latch) is done set the READY signal to let the CPU run further. _________________ ----------------------------------------------------------

With the value of the pound dropping (due to the country voting to leave the EU) I am going to have to cancel my request for a board, as it is getting more expensive by the day. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

OK. No problem. I understand you, I was many times in the same situation due to the bad exchange rate of HU Forint / $ or EUR. _________________ ----------------------------------------------------------

I received my tester today. All the 8086 and 8088 I have tested work, but whenever I plug in an 8087 I get a rom check sum failure error. Only the combination of a P8086 and a C8087-3 has worked. _________________ General failure reading disk in drive A

It's maybe related to the FPUs high power consumption.
Do you use USB power supply? if so you should try powering the board with a 5V 2-3A DC adapter. _________________ ----------------------------------------------------------

Yes, I am using USB power supply. I will have to get myself a 5V adapter. _________________ General failure reading disk in drive A

I designed an expansion tool for the 8086/8088 tester that let it use for testing 80186/80188 CPUs.
With the 80186/188 expansion socket PGA, PLCC and CLCC CPUs can be tested.
The set contains the expansion board and a PLCC-68 and a CLCC-68 socket.
The set price is $16.00
Some hint for usage:
The expansion can be inserted into the ZIF socket instead of the CPU. Because 80186/188 do not work with 8087 FPU the FPU should be removed while using the expansion.
On the expansion there is a PGA-68 socket soldered, so PGA socketed CPU can be inserted directly.
For testing PLCC or CLCC CPUs the appropriate socket should be inserted into the PGA socket and the CPU can be inserted into the mounted socket.
Take care the socket and CPU orientation! Pin 1 must be in the upper left corner when insetring a socket or CPU. _________________ ----------------------------------------------------------
