hmmm 16"x16" =256"x 2.5cm=640 square cm. 640/71=9 (one chip on 9 square cm) 15000x 9=135000 square cm or 135 square meters or 1/3 NBA AREA hahaha |
Check again, you made two mistakes =)
It's about 35 m^2.
Still a lot! |

For the picture I don't care what anyone uses.
Hell if they can do a "Laying on a bed of IC's" like the laying on a bed of nails trick they can be the winner....lol |

To help this thread move along, I offer my paltry "collection"
or IBM's with a 21064 thrown in for a visual size reference.
Most of what I hang on to are 386 / 486 and older chips and
for some reason I like the x87's just for fun I guess. Too
mundane for most folks here though I bet. |

| Nice! I like how the top left chip has a symmetrical layout of its dies. |

| I've been designing 3D printed stands for some of these larger chips if your interested. I'll be doing a diagonal one for that same power 5 soon. |

Those are pretty cool. I'm sure my cat would love to
knock one of my MCM's off by rubbing on it.

Here is a part of my collection, inspired by the first picture in this thread. There are many empty slots, so many CPUs need to be found.
Not a huge collection but maybe you can call this a good start? _________________ 1242 x86 CPUs in my collection (week 2 2026). |
