XEON eh?,....ya I would'nt even want to fire one of those up
...another one of Intel's famous mistakes !!!
Hummmmmm. let see how many that makes.
Intel:
#1-All slot ones(should of been slot 0 )!!!
#2-Celeron(Slowron)!
#3-PII&PIII Xeon ...ermm(it has begun)!
#4-Xeon(in 2001 finaly gets it's own name )...They did'nt want to see their on names on it anymore(Intel)
#5-Xeon MP,...would someone please make it stop
#6-Celeron D (let's screw this up again!!!)
#7-All of P4's socket 423's series Woooops, what were "We" thinking there!!!
#8-Dual core!!!--->let's take two complet Idots and make one huge Moron
VS AMD...because I know some of you are just bitting to spitt it out at me, so here it is:
#1 Duron ...Poor performance
#2 Athlon Slot-A same mistake as Intel's Slot ones !!!
#3 Sempron ..ok "We'll" never do this one again
#4 Turion... I don't even know anyone who owns one
...and well, as we can conclude there...There's an good enough reason why I support AMD %100. Ya ,they become hot, so what !!!...quit crying and put a liquid cool system on there and beat record clocks!!!

I like Intel. I agree on the slot 1.. its a disaster, but correct me if I am wrong, wasnt Intel just trying to innovate? ( i.e. keep away people who just copied them all the time ). I wont go though your list, and I am not trying to defend them, but you have to acknowledge their performance as a company. Sure they are going to make mistakes - isnt hindsight wonderful????? and anyway.. there will always be packard bell cr4p to put the less desirable cpus in, yes, even the AMD rubbish as well.
For each chip manufacturer I just wish they had not given the OS companies so much slack to produce bloatware, but I guess it goes hand in hand. New OS = new cpu. ( most of the time ) |

Cheers! to rare chips, but Intel chips still sucks to me! There's not one Intel chip out there that I can give credit to that impressed me at all !!!
And note: I said Intel Chips hence performance ,not the crew themselves in particular:wink: ....ya I agree to a few pointers there, but naaaw, No-one in my years of expertis in Game Testing and Programming , can I put a Intel in my clients PC's nor mine! Unless they want an office computer that costs an bundle for nothing and half its perfomance value in $.Heres a bit of an exemple for yas!
AMD Athlon 2500 XP M Overclocked at 3200 VS Intel Pentium's 3.2gb. side-by-side with all the same iner-componates:
Game of choice for testing: Battle Field 2
Results----> The AMD had the ground troups wiped before you knew what hit ya !
Need another yet?...Any expert gamer at this point would stop here...but why not, let continue:
Here Im going to give you(to my opinion) the worst CPU's on the market
AMD Duron 900 VS The Intel Celeron 2.4gb
Game of choice was--->Diablo 2
Well, well, well let me tell ya, I never laught so hard in my life on that one ...AMD ,again ,wooped Intels ass...Oh and big time !!!AMD was only at half peek while the poor, poor Celeron chip was ready to burst into flames and POOOF!!!... it was no more
All these were actual tests ans many more were done using the proper Benchmarks and so on......So you see, I just can face people when they tell me ,"Can you please put $500 Pentium in my tower,my son wants to game" !!! When they coulda had a rock solid Gaming monster cpu,for only half the price
Anyone get the get yet?......No.....I can go on ,but yous would'nt really want me to reveil more "embarassing" Intel moments

+2-Samsung 160gb SATA2 HDD HD160JJ

Celeron was never a performance chip, it was always a budget chip. You clearly have your view, but millions of intel customers are also happy Like me. |

Ya, I agree with you Jac!
No problems there!
Everyone's intitled to put their money where they wish...
I just hate having them come back to me crying and I have to say-->"I told you so"!...While I have paid half of what they did for a system thats almost twice as powerfull.....its only logic, but hey! Pay for the name...go ahead !!!...it's like paying for the name Sony! Why not buy the darn company at this point really!!!Their products are no match for Samsung,or NEC..and more(with cheaper prices) but hey..the whole world knows the name Sony ,so their suckered into buying from them ...Whatever! I know I like paying less for more bit !!!
But....thats Kinda like not wanting to pay to much for certain Vintage CPU's ,Some are worth more to certain individuals and some are not ...I guess...I know I would'nt pay $2000US for a set of 4004 or whatever...I got better things to do with my $

GlinGlin your system is HIGH END
My point of view is that : actual performance of Pentiums IV and Athlons 64 is so high that is in 110% satisfy 99,9% people on the world and I don't think it have a sense to discuss which ones have 100 or 300 points more in 3D Mark or SiSoft Sandra. Many many people stops at Athlons XP / Pentium IV Northwood generation.
If technology will going in future same as at last 4 years so I will spend my money to AMD. Intel is same good but he have safe place on markets. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

Yeah well put Marcin, I think I said elsewhere new os = new cpu. I think that will hold in general.
I used to spend a lot of $$ when I was younger, keeping my system on the edge. Now I dont play those games any more. Result now is I have not upgraded my computers in about 4 years. They work fine, and very very very quiet. I hate any computer noise! ( esp. when writing code. ) |

Well...I'm not so sure about that one there...My youngest kid's PC is running Windows XP Pro on a measly AMD K6-2 500 with a 192mb sdram. There's nothing "New" about that CPU to have had put a "New OS" on it....My coussin is still using Windows XP PRO in a Intel 233mmx tower with 128 mb sdram.! Imagine that !.....so....Maybe I did'nt get what you are saying.....
