A friend gave me some CPUs and Eproms that went through gold recovery process .. I use them to look at the dies (didnt have a chance before).
This 2 Intel 486 should be the same, both are DX-33 Mhz but the dies look very different.. Is it normal? One of them is fake? Could be one year later and another plant be the reason?

| SX810 is likely a lot newer and has a shrinked die (less expensive to make, and less power consumption) |

| SX810 is SL-enhanced later version with more features that's likely made with 0.8 micron process whereas other one is original 1.0 micron version. SX810 die is likely similar to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Intel_80486_DX2_P24S_die.JPG and the original large die is still waiting opened here because there's so many other pics of it already. |
