A friend gave me some CPUs and Eproms that went through gold recovery process .. I use them to look at the dies (didnt have a chance before).

This 2 Intel 486 should be the same, both are DX-33 Mhz but the dies look very different.. Is it normal? One of them is fake? Could be one year later and another plant be the reason?

Thank you

Cedrik

SX810 is likely a lot newer and has a shrinked die (less expensive to make, and less power consumption)

SX810 is SL-enhanced later version with more features that's likely made with 0.8 micron process whereas other one is original 1.0 micron version. SX810 die is likely similar to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Intel_80486_DX2_P24S_die.JPG and the original large die is still waiting opened here because there's so many other pics of it already.
