Hi,
recently I got AMD AM9716 Eprom. The marking is strange, I have 2716 and 4716, but 9716 is new to me. In what whay this version differs from other?

I believe 97xx and 27xx are the same thing.
97xx is an old designation of 27xx.
At least in datasheets there is no difference.

The 97xx parts were usually used to note a device that was made, but not necessarily screened, to military standards.


AMD did this to show their parts were a bit 'better' then the competition.

In the case of the 8080, AMD had a 9080, they referred to the 8080A as 'commodity' and the 9080A as 'standard', It was suppose to be a bit better then the commodity, and likely the price reflected that

I see. I there are not many around. I have never seen this marking in eprom chip before.

First 9716 I have seen, but have seen plenty 9708 and 9702
