Planning for the future, I hope to upgrade the i7 3740QM in my HP 8570 EliteBook, mounted in a FCPGA988 socket. It is OK as is but I am certain things will come along to bog it down. System bus is 5 GT/s. There appear to be several options that can boost performance by 25 to 30%, but I am looking for some corroboration if available. Also, I am probably not considering all the cogent factors in my analysis. And I would like to boost performance more than 30%. Any guidance appreciated!

i just upgraded my elitebook 2570p from 3320M to 3720QM.
it's OK, performance increased over 100%.
however due to BIOS tdp limit, cores running fpu and avx benefit programs at full load, max turbo switches between 2.9ghz to 3.1ghz, cannot reach full 3.3ghz.
when full load with fpu and gpu both, the power can reach to as high as 56W rather than 45w tdp. but temperature stays good below 90 Celcius.

bigger version of elitebook like 8470p and 8570p, the non-gpu version has better heatsink than 2570p, so they can have better turbo performance. gpu version the cpu core to exhaust fins are too long, and has the gpu heatsink in the way, so they tend to throttle due to thermal restricts.
