I have finally acquired an Intel University B kit after finally pulling the trigger. It's currently in transit. I am a vintage computer collector keen on collecting education related items so I don't collect chips, per se, but have a few.
The kit doesn't have all "CS" marked chips yet most of them are there. It is a bit of a scattered kit because the EPROMs (as shown here) are not all the same. As an example, the B4702a appears to be from the MCS-4 series, yet they are all marked "CS". The P8102 SRAM is weird as they are not marked "CS" and there is almost no information on the Internet about them. I did post in the Wanted section for those chips that would make a normal set (the 2102A's) but I wonder if the P8102s could be original to the set?
Here's a pic from the seller of the top portion of the kit. From what I've seen, the MC8080A CS in a kit is uncommon. You can see the non-CS chips in that picture.
Any information would be much appreciated. |

Non-CS chips are fairly normal in those kits. Itnel just grabbed what they had to make the kits, thus the odd variety.
8102s are the MCS-80 version of a 2102 so a natural fit (I have seen both)
MC8080s are actually fairly common in the kits, they used damaged ones (usually with a chipped corner, like your) in the uni kits that they could not sell. _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

Awesome. That's exactly what I wanted to hear. It would have driven me crazy to not have all of the right chips. That said, it is missing one P8102. If I could find that, I'd be all set.
Thanks CPUShack! |
