I just got a nice motherboard through the post this morning. An Olivetti 8086 board, containing the following socketed chips:
AMD P8086-1
Intel D8087-1
Fujitsu MBL8742H
AMI 8742GBS
2 * SGS M27128A-2F1
I reckon the chips are worth more than what I paid for the whole board including shipping! I'm going to keep it complete if I can get enough info on it to figure out how to connect a keyboard and what sort of power supply I need Sorry, no pic yet - I can't do a batch of scanning now until next weekend _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

I got really lucky - it cost me about $21 including shipping from Canada
The D8087-1 is my favourite chip of the lot as well It's a shame I hadn't got a list of which chips were on the board though - I bought an AMD P8086-1 only last weekend on eBay! _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

It was on eBay for $8.99! I missed the end of the auction and bought it off the seller outside of eBay!
I haven't been able to test it yet but it looks as new. I need to find some specs to show me what sort of keyboard I need and how to connect it, as there is no standard AT keyboard connector. Also I've got to find out what ort of power supply it needs (it looks obvious where it plugs in, but I will have to check that as well so I don't do any damage). I know I will have a floppy drive and an old enough hard drive for it, and I think I have a 25-9 pin serial adapter so I can attach a muse.
It's the first board of this type I've owned, and as they are different from any later boards I have or have ever had I'm entering into new ground Gonna have to look on some of the computer collection sites for Olivetti systems which show internal pics _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Most of XT mobos use AT power supply. That is little hard to plug connectors but it is compatible Keyboard XT you need with AT will not work _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

Read the original message Sammy. I specifically said I can't put a pic that does it justice until I get to scan next weekend. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

it's good to know I can use a standard AT power supply - that means all I need to do is check the pin-outs and get a socket so I can rewire the outputs from a spare power supply
Keyboard may be a bit more difficult to find, but I'm sure there'll be one on eBay soon (if not already, I didn't check yet). _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

I didn't get XT keyboard to this moment - I hadn't occasion. I must say they are very rare
Do you have ISA (short version) video card ? I have one and get it is very hard too. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

It may take me a while to find an appropriate keyboard, but that's not a problem. It's given me incentive to put more time into sorting through the piles of old stuff I ahve, organise everything and get my test rigs set up. It'll all take a few weeks still, there's just so much I ahve to sort through
I'm not sure if I have an 8-bit ISA graphics card. Fortunately this board has everything on the board and no expansion slots, so all I need is to connect a keyboard, power supply, monitor and 512k floppy drive to test it. I'm hoping I can get it to work with a VGA monitor (even if it is in EGA or CGA mode) - then all I need to buy is the keyboard and a plug for the power supply (plus the tool to connect the plug in place of the existing one on a power supply). For now it's nothing more than a nice addition to my collection but I hope in a few weeks to be able to post a screenshot of it running DOS 1.0 or something equally antique _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

| I ought to dig through my old systems from when I first started collecting, I am sure I have some 8088 and 8086 complete. I switched to collecting cpus only very soon afterwards. Probably MFM drives.. even have the tasty green screens for that healthy option. |

hehe, that sounds great if you have some complete systems from back then. I will have to look for a tasty green screen at some point, but my priority is merely to get systems put together for testing chips at the moment - the rest comes later when I find a winning lottery ticket _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.
