I got a lot views , different ways (chemical, electrical-chemical) "home-made" gold scrap. More views similar results: 4-5 Pentium Pro = 1-1.5g gold. Example in my country Lithuania 1g "999" (higest hallmark) =33-35euro or 35-37$ On ebay lots Pentium Pros 15-17$ each (solds) To receive ~50euro I need scrap five ppros for 10euro each max. And where they are chemical reagent, equipment, time.

Where is the business?

Or in my country cheap gold buying...

Answer is : big quantities.

You can get ~25-30$ worth of gold from each PPro. Chemicals are cheap. If you scrap 100 PPro each time, they don't cost more than 50$.

If you have 100 PPro bought at 15$ each, you need 2 days for 2-pass refine (to get 950+ grade).

Profit is 100*30-1500-50 ~= 1500$ or well, closer to 1000$ if you're a noob in that business and fail to get pure-enough gold.

I have a nice tutorial with great pictures that I can post somewhere if you want.

But keep in mind that fumes are extremely toxic. Even with professional protection equipment, I barely intoxicated myself one or two times. Very Happy

I just wish I would get die shots of some chips before they're all scrapped for gold. Early NS and PCX PA-RISC chips are one example of those with scrappers always paying more than I can. Then I'm wondering whether some PPro SSPEC have those nice large CPU dies with details not covered by top metal layer. One already open PPro ES I borrowed has a scratch on die and thus getting production chip with such clean die might be useful.
