|

TeraNex SIMD Processor Piranha
Made on a 0.35u CMOS process by LSI these have a clock speed of 64MHz (later version made on 0.25u clocked to 90MHz)
1024 PE per chip
Each PE handles a single pixel
Each PE has its own ALU, Registers (2), and Memory
2D-Mesh 4-Way inter-connect
Each chip can handle 8-Giga Ops
This is a SIMD design that actually originated with Martin-Marietta in 1981, (which became Lockheed-Martin)
It was known then as the GAPP processor ( Geometric Arithmetic Parallel Processor)
The design and technology was then spun-off into TeraNex and used for video conversion (SD->HD and HD->SD)
I have 23 of these
$8 each _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
