Some of the 486 chips have the type of marking shown in the picture below.
What does 'GS' Mean? I see some which instead of 'GS' say 'ES', would that mean Engineering Sample? Some similar CPUs have the Letters 'CJ', 'CK', 'FD' or 'E1' etc.
EDIT: here is one with ES like I described: http://www.engineering-sample.com/gallery/Intel/040%2080486/486dx266es/
Picture from here: http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SX/SX911.html

Okay, thank you.
Though it is coincidential the the lot code for the one at http://www.engineering-sample.com is also 'ES'...
I am wondering about these two (attached). They have some bent pins. I don't know about the markings on the front. |

You can only tell from the codes on the front of the chip. Intel production chips will have a 5 character code starting S (an S-Spec), ES chips will have a 5 character code starting Q. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Allright, you convinced me. If the seller cannot tell me anything about the front (heatsink blocking it?), then I will just leave it.
Thanks a lot for the quick reply! |

The X86-secret ES I linked to is from w24 1994, actually.
I received a photo from the front now, it was an ordinary SX807. |
