I have a notebook m/b right here on my desk. It has a SR1EK Core i3-4005U http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i3/Intel-Core%20i3-4005U%20Mobile%20processor.html processor - with two chips, looking exactly like this one:
https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1LiPFJXXXXXaIXFXXq6xXFXXXv/FREE-SHIPPING-NEW-CPU-CHIPS-I3-4005U-1-7G-SR1EK-G81364-I3-4005U-A-central-processor.jpg. One is small, it must be the 2-core Haswell core. The other is rather large and I can't think of anything but a 64MB EDRAM chip that accompanied a few Haswell models. But, if you look it up it has a reduced GT2 graphics with no L4 aid.

...but what is the big chip then? Could the puny GT2 graphics core be this big...?

The big die is the Haswell Core. The small one is the PCH (embedded chipset).

Hm. So the big one is the CPU+IGP. Now I see that it comes in many flavors, with different CPU+IGP+cache configs and some of them are just this narrow shaped while others are closer to a square.

And the small one is the PCH. Thanks!
