I have noticed that anyone with a technical background tends to use Firefox.
Its not always the case but most of the time its true. |

Well ya I acctualy agree. Most Techies do use it(FF), but not me !
I think I can round off everything equally by saying this:
Does'nt really matter what browser you use, as long as you have a good firewall and anti-virus your one step ahead of any votes on any browser
So my final thought of the evening is this:No matter what you use, always use protection
Tis Saturday night and,
Glin...has left the building!

In fact what makes me use Firefox is not the core-browser itself, IE is more compatible for that. What makes me use Firefox are all the small things that make my life easyer: nice and clean interface, tabs (I can't live without them), RSS feeds (i get all my news via RSS), integrated searchbox for multiple search engines and all the plugins I use (IRC mostly).
It may sound stupid, but once you begin to use them, you are totally addicted. |

I am a 'techie'... Although not as much as I used to be, yet I have never thought of using FireFox. It's just another programme to load onto my computer.. I try to keep it to a bare minimum.
3 years now and still no reload... (And that includes moving everything over from a PC to a laptop.)
Why fix it if it aint broke _________________ 4000+ chips.

Because there are features that you will love and need, but you don't know that you need them at this point :p
Ah yes, at my office we are under Linux/Unix systems so it's conveniant to me to have the same browser under every platform |

Actually I think Firefox and the other browsers using the same core use the correct HTML standard, IE allowed the standard to get so loose that some things just dont display right in Firefox.
Your right about the bells and whistles though, I couldnt live without tabbed browsing, select and right click search google, RSS bookmarks etc etc. Plus the thousands of great extensions.

The trouble is IE is broke in so many ways, If I set up a computer for a non-savvy user on of the first things I do is install Firefox for them and hide IE. They get into less trouble that way. |

I have sold, mmm.... probably 20,000 computers in the last 5 or 6 years. And I have never installed any other browser apart from IE. Never even been asked, never even been questioned why. And never had a customer moan about it.
If a customers breaks there PC, anyway - It costs money to repair it _________________ 4000+ chips.

I wouldnt expect your average PC retailer to install an after market browser.

New PC owners will not know about Firefox and therefore will not know to ask for it, how many of them ask for other software that isnt in the shops? If I was selling PC's I would install it for them. Once you mention security they will be all for it, Joe Bloggs knows he needs to be secure but doesnt know how to do it.

It is always a good idea to install FF one someone's machine without his knowledge
For all IE fans on the forum:
Please download and try FF just for one evening. You will find it extremely convenient, light and simply a pleasure to use. _________________ Collecting soviet and western CPUs once again -- highfive to old-timers o/ |
