Hello.

I've got a Intel A82385-25 today and I don't know anything about it.

I'd like to know what's the utility of this chip and if it replaces 80386 processor or if is necessary a especial socket to place 82385.

On a computer based in a 386 chip... what's the difference of performance to have only 386 and having 386 + 385?

I never saw a motherboard with a especial socket for a 82385.

Please, tell me all that you know about it. Thanks

Ahm, another question: is it a good chip for collectors?

P.D.: Sorry because my english is so bad.

82385 is a cache controller, it includes the cache contoller, and the cache tag, it requires the data cache to be external. You will not find it on a typical motherboard.
