Found these 2 chips today new in original packaging. The one on the right is a DMA controller is it engineering sample?

Yes the DMA controller is Engineering sample.. nice find
You may want to check the markings on the other side of the Text Co-processor as the plant code is from a developmental plant, but they do produce short run standard ICs as well

Is the Text Co-processor have the sSpec ID S52054?
