| The first chip that went into my collection was a 8080 CPU (no pre- or post-fix code). It has been in my possessiom since the mid-70's. |

My first chip was an amd C8080A, bought it off ebay for a $20 buy it now back in late 2003 Then I discovered my dad kept for me a ton of CPU's that he came about from going to all these auctions. So he stored those thinking I'd get into chipcollecting, and damn straight I did. I guess the first chip I actually "collected" was a pentium 100MHz gold cap engineering sample. I think the thread is archived in here somewhere, when I had first joined and asked what it was. _________________ http://www.RareCPUs.com

I have no idea what my first chip was. First I ever bought was the 486SX25 I had in my first home-build system, I think it was around 1990.
I had in the region of 100 different chips when I started to think of myself as a collector - I had collected solely for testing software before that (hence my liking to get working chips whenever possible).
I have no idea what was the first chip I bought, but my first purchase as a collector and not just a buyer was for four K6-2's that weren't as cheap as I thought at the time _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Interesting everyone.....
Ya , I think for me my first chip was found in an Amiga 2000 pc.
Then after that was pretty much a pile that dropped in my lap.
I was so sad when I actually had a trailer load of old vintage pcs and had to throw them all away without even looking threw them....this my friends was a sad ,sad day for me....It was a 3 bedroom trailer that I was using for stocking PC parts ,then it went up in flames
Picture a 3 Bdr trailer stacked with old pcs and old networking gear!!!
