I recently purchased a P3 1.2 to upgrade from an 866 P3. According to everything I had read and everyone I have talked to around the office it should have worked fine. However, when i installed the new processor and turned on the machine I got absolutley NO video coming from the monitor. Nothing, zip, nada. The little green light on the monitor blinks but that is it. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? Thanks BK

The Pentium III 1.2 GHz is a Tualatin core, which is not compatible with earlier Pentium IIIs such as the 866 which were the earlier Coppermine core. The 1.2 GHz chip will only work in motherboards that specifically support it (it will be listed in the manual).

I've heard that you can damage the processor or motherboard or both by putting a Tualatin processor in a non-supported motherboard, but I have no firsthand experience with that.
