Hello!
Think, most of us saw the skull emblem on the the Intel's extreme series motherboards.

I was trying to find out where this logo first came from, who invented it. And why actually this skull? Maybe someone knows the history of this legend and what does it means.
Also it is interesting what does mean "Skulltrail"? as the superfast platform And why it is also called. Intetresting the history of appearance and development of the name.

They had a lot of codename ending in "-trail" these days.

My first reference is from 18-04-2017, IDF Spring 2007 Keynote.

Code:
Intel also plans to deliver a number of desktop computer products later this year, including updates to its Intel® Viiv™ processor technology roadmap, and a new high-end enthusiast and gaming platform codenamed "Skulltrail."

Skull = badass. It's probably as simple as that.

Before Skulltrail, Intel motherboards were just ultra-conservative boards for business users.

Ask François Piednoel. He's the man behind Skulltrail. He left Intel some month ago, but you can probably reach him via FB/Twitter/Linkedin. I'm sure he will be happy to tell you everything about that skull Very Happy

I have got one answer from Intel:
"When choosing the code names of the products, Intel selects geographic locations in the US, Skull Canyon mini-PC points to a canyon with the same name near Los Angeles. When the skull and the logo of the skull, shows that this is not a standard office mini PC, and it is designed for other purposes. Just like you indicated Skull is used to emphasize the attitude to the platform "Skulltrail" (2xLGA771), since the developers of Intel motherboard Intel, mainly now working in the development of mini PC NUC, and the skull, as well as on the platform Skulltrail emphasizes that this is a series of " extreme "".
Waiting for second answer =)
