Some avatars here on the forum are really pretty cool, such as the eggs on the guys eyes (sorry, I actually forgot who that is).
Not evberybody uses chips.
Whar's your story behind that?

I choosed the 3301 because it reminds me to the best chip digging day in my life.
When I started collecting somewhen in 2000 I just got those chips that were in the old computers in my company.
I carefully started on ebay and some other computer related forums but the prices were much higher than my knowledge.
Then I found a scrapping company in the internet and asked if I can come along.
After a while they agreed and when I arrived there were about hundred big boxes with all kind of boards, mostly real junk from failed production...
In one box (under some other boxes) I saw a board with a small white chip on it.
I asked for that box and after three hours of adrenaline and excitement I had a nice lot of boards and pulled chips.
A friend of mine searched a box with ceramic chips inbetween and finally we paid per weight and had some boards with white 24-pin ROM chips, some with Intel 3301A, some 1702, a 8080 white and so on.
OK, no 4004 but...
So the 3301 was my first white Intel chip. That's reason enough for using it here:-)

I'll be changing avatars from time to time, just as a way of showing off some of my nicer chips (even if the size of an avatar doesn't really do justice to many of them).

My avatar is an sx753. I saved it from being ground to dust by a recycler. That gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. Also it is the first FDIV pentium. I started collecting chips because of an sx835 I found. FDIV's have been my favorites ever since.

My first "rare" cpu. A 686MX-PR200 with "Eng sample" engraved in the ceramic. Only known to exist. Bought by mistake...

Well, obviously because I'm a fan and collector of old Silicon Graphics machines. And I dig the cube logo.

My most favourite processor, the Soviet K580IK80, i8080 clone. This one is made in September 1980.

I liked your egg picture hippo. I kind of miss it. It was hilarious. This new one is a bit scarry, you look like a scene from a low budget horror flick.
