I was expecting you have ended the listing in order to lower the strat bidding price, but no way... Rolling Eyes

Great board!
I would add some photos of my two Intellec 4 boards, but I think they are too big for this forum.
I'll try in a sec.

Here's an unusual one -- with gold circuits.
No 4004, alas.

And here's a more-normal Intellect 4 green board.
It does have a grey trace chip, but only a C3205.
Sorry photo is so small.

Happy to do so, John.

BLUE BOARD imm 4-60 INPUT/OUTPUT
top row (N=4) P3404 S554 H8726
middle row (N=2) of same P3404 as above
and (N=2) P3205 S555 K0587
bottom row (N=1) of same P3205 as above
and (N=1) P3205 S555 H9403 [only last no. is different]

I included all the numbers, since I don't understand Intel's chip ID protocols
(not sure if last nos. sets are date codes? etc.)

GREEN BOARD imm 4-72 Memory Controller
top row NO intel chips
second row (N=2) P3404 S554 K8193
and (N=1) Grey Trace C3205 S555 N1397
third row NO Intel chips
fourth row (N=1) Grey Trace C3205 [same as above]

if you need the nos./mfrs. of the other chips on the boards, let me know
Peter

Q: Can anyone give me a QUICK tutorial on Intel chip ID numbers?

I don't know where the model number stops, what the other numbers mean, and whether there are date codes (hidden?) in the numbers I gave above.

Peter

THANKS TO THE FORUM MEMBER WHO SUPPLIED THIS INFO:

Intel ususally list the part numbers at the top.
When a new chip is made it is ussually missing the first letters which denote the package type:
P = Plastic, C = Ceramic (White/Grey Trace for the older 16 pin chip) and
D = Grey Ceramic
Usually the number below the Part Number is the Intel lot/batch code.
It is unique for a given part number made a specific week.
Until 1975 Intel did not date their chips (usually at the bottom) so therefore itīs a science trying to exact date the lot Intel codes.
Anyhow the first intel chips started with three and four digits lot codes only
Then came the B series: B0001- B9999 ca 1971/1972 and onwards

In between there has been som other type of numbering system, let alone chips marked after the buyers sepcifications. Sometimes the datecode seems to have been printed after the part number but that is rare (for chips made 1968-1975). So from 1968 until 1975 the Lot Codes was the only way to determine/guess the mfg date.

Example: A C4004 with B1717 (lot code) below the part number is either White ceramic 4004 or grey trace and made sometime in 1972, I think.

I appreciate the lesson, and hope others also find this helpful!

Just email me the full res pics, then I can cross reference dates from the board and Non-intel chips with Intel lot codes

This is how we can track lot codes and how such things as B0000-9999 dating takes place
