Hi!
I have this Intel Pentium 90 that has the 'ES' on the backside. Is it an Engineering Sample or not?
Thanks |

Not an engineering sample.
It is a production sample with s-spec SX968 ( do a s-spec search here on cpu-world )
Nobody seems to know the true meanings of the codes on the back. I have seen many variations. Engineering samples would be consistent. |

Ironically I think ES stamped on the back means 'Standard'. _________________ 4000+ chips.

If we ever create a FAQ this should probably be one of the first questions. (I have asked about it my self in the beginning...) _________________ My collection: http://www.cpucollection.se :::::: http://www.chipdb.org Photos of chips you never knew existed. yeah like that large CS on the back of the flat 286 and 186 LCC chips. The thread came up again a few weeks ago., and just recently I found a stack ( )of LLC's with large printing of CC, CS and a bunch of other letters.
if anyone has the thread link again I'll like to check it out. I cant find it in the search engine. |

I didn't need to search - I merely figured that it refered to vintage chips so would be in that forum, and that it refered to 186 or 286 with CS on them, so looked for 186 or 286 and CS both in the same title Less than one page down the listing
I know, I'm just being too logical, that's gonna be my downfall
Ya know, the rare times when I actually know or can work out something that someone else needs to know make me feel good
