Long time lurker first time poster
I have an older PC (my first one) that my other half is insisting I get rid of.
I of course really dont want to just throw it to the curb, and was wondering is there any value with the CPU?
Its a powerleap pl-ip3/t - I cant seem to find any ebay auctions to get an idea of value.
Just curious if there is any demand or interest anywhere for this type of CPU still
As far as I know when the tower was last used the CPU was working, and was never tinkered with besides installing it. |

Can you post a picture? I only know Powerleap adapters, so would be interested to see what you have.

I just googled it. It is an adapter to run a socket 370 CPU is a Slot 1 motherboard. Might be worth $5 - $10 to the right person.

Usual slotket is $10 max but it has tualatin support and is significantly more valuable as the ultimate slot 1 upgrade option.
$30-50 is realistic price on ebay for this model.
I saw some were sold close to $100 couple of years ago.
From the buyer side it's wise to buy $5 one and modify it to support tualatins.
But if you need authentic upgrade it's one of very few options thus the price. |

Second this. There are no eBay auctions because the specific model you have is a bit uncommon these days. The basic Slot 1 to Socket 370 converters are worth ~$5, but yours is more capable, so it commands a higher price.
I'd be interested in buying it directly from you if you'd like to sell it here instead of eBay. |

I havent had a chance to take out the CPU, but this is pretty much what it looks like.
This is a photo I grabbed off of Google
The CPU I have was I believe the highest one at the time being offered, the 1.4 Ghz Celeron

If I understand you correctly, for the sake of shipping ease I was planning on piecing out the tower and selling individual components rather then just the whole tower.
Shipping the whole thing would cost an arm and a leg I think.
I just took another look at the tower, and I actually noticed there is no video card. I have the modem, sound card, ram, everything but the video card 
I did turn it on, and I can see all the fans lights etc boot up. Its been in my closet since it was last used, and was working when put away.
I dont exactly have an AGP video card lying around at the moment, but is there anyway I can test the CPU further? |

Still interested even though it's not tested, but with the CPU included.

Also, if you're going to take the time to list the CPU, you might get interest from forum members or on eBay for the motherboard as well. The more desirable Slot 1 motherboards can sell for $25-50 untested.
There's not really another way to test it. You can get working AGP cards on ebay for about $10 shipped, but I don't know if it being tested/working will add enough value to make that effort and cost worth your while. If it worked when you put it in your closet, and it's been stored there in low humidity all this time, it's probably still working. If not, it still has some collectible value.

Haha, yeah that fix he did was a little surprising. Agreed his auction title wasn't very descriptive. Though, the 2015 auction I posted for $65 was properly named with a 1.4GHz CPU and didn't sell at that price. |

Yes I agree with your price direction  About 10 years ago they were worth not more than 10-15 for working one. LinLin FCPGA->FCPGA2 adapters which were chinese great cheap alternative 3~5 USD + another 3 USD for Slot1->FCPGA. Now they completely dissapeared (LinLins).

I just got around to taking some photos today and took a close look.
From what I can see the caps on the board all look flat, with no bulging or leaking.
Also, long story short I was able to finally get my hands on an AGP card to plug into my tower to see if things work. I was able to get into the BIOS to take a look and it looks like everything works as expected, though I apparently do not have an OS loaded onto the hard drive so cant do any further testing at this time.
Actually my other half is telling me list it or lose it now so I dont have anymore time to really tinker 
I am attaching some photos here of the condition
Please note that I did replace the original fan with a Vantec stealth - I found the original fan just too noisy though I also still have that on hand |
