Guys, recently i have got an Pentium MMX tech. A80503233, from my previous experience, i can say it is a 233MHz processor. But when i saw the CPUID on it, i was shocked !!!! the CPUID is SY062 (Written on the CPU). now my concern is;

1. I have 5 more Intel Pentium MMX, and each of them are starting with "SL" i mean the CPUID is "SLXXX", but this one starts with "SY", which is same as INTEL PENTIUM processors.

2. When i search on Google with "SY062" google gave me CPU-Worlds link,
http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SY/SY062.html

and it says, it is a INTEL PENTIUM, A80502120, 120MHz CPU.

3. When i dig dipper, i found that INTEL Pentium MMX tech A80503233 CPU will have a CPUID of SL241.

http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SL/SL241.html

So .... is this CPU is a fake or real ?? i am almost certain that it must be, because CPU-World can't be wrong Sad .... (Though i wish this time CPU-World, please be wrong) ...

Many thanks for your time and my apology for my bad english.

Regards,

Shanchya

There aren't any desktop ceramic Pentium 233 CPUs. The fastest made was 200MHz before they switched to the black version, so this one is remarked.

That link also states that "This is a fake processor. The processor has FPO number C7450132-xxxx. Bottom of the CPU is marked as "E7353228CA A4"."

And as cuttingedgecs also writes - all 233's are black packages.

Rule of thumb (at least for Intel) - inconsistent font, uneven spacing, not straight lines - fake.
This one fails so hard you don't need further evidences.
E.g. look how "L" is higher than "7".
If in doubt check how true Intel fonts of this era looks (e.g. on chipdb.org).
Easy to spot this one have wrong "0", "2", "5" etc.

"Fake" can mean a few different things in this sense, so to be clearer, you probably have a genuine Intel Pentium CPU, just not one that was qualified and marked by Intel to operate at 233 MHz. It's most likely a 166 or 200MHz MMX model that's had the package modified to read 233MHz.
