For sale rare and interesting device AGP to PCI adapter allows you to run an AGP 3Dx or old GeForce card in the pci slot. It does not start on 486 systems. Socket 7 VIA vt82c585vpx and Intel wf82439tx. It is also compatible with most of the more modern chipsets except nForce. Compatibility depends from motherboard. The main thing is that they understand the 3.3 volt signal.
The adapter is equipped with jumpers to disconnect the power from the pci slot. But you can not allow the disconnection of 12v from the motherboard and the lack of additional power supply SATA or MOLEX. The adapter is equipped with its 3.3V converter in high accuracy.
Price - 70 usd worldwide shipping.

Have you tried this in a socket 4 or 5 motherboard? Which cards did you test?

As this is a passive adapter, I imagine the most important factor that will decide if it will work or not is the video card rather than the motherboard. The video card chipset would have to understand both PCI and AGP bus signalling as the adapter isn't doing any conversion. So you would be looking to use a card that was available in both AGP and PCI versions, but which used the same chips in either configuration.

This adapter is too simple. No buffering logic between PCI and AGP data/command lines. It works with AGP 1.0 and universal cards. If the PCI bus is in 5V mode, you have a problem.

Today I put in on motherboard without AGP port Gigabyte GA-586DX, my old W98 does not want to run but in safe mode and in POST I see the picture and W98 correctly detect installed GF2MX400.

If it will be active or smart adapter with full range of voltage support price will be about 500$, more above.
And by the way on any 486 PC it is not impossible to run any PCI GeForce videocard even first GF256, not speaking about any AGP.

I have used a GF2MX on a Am5x86 at 160 MHz. It worked in 3D accelerated mode in Windows. It is demonstrated on Vogons somewhere, probably in this thread, https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=33879
