Heatgun is the collector tool No 1! Seriously... I have used a heatgun on many chips and several different chiptypes, both surface mounted PQFP (Plastic Quad Flat Package) or ordinary DIP:s. Just heat the backside of the circuit board and shake the board ever now and then, and before you know it the chip is off. _________________ My collection: http://www.cpucollection.se :::::: http://www.chipdb.org Photos of chips you never knew existed. Now over 6000 different chips in the database. |

I recommend you leave the chip on the board., just cut the board around the chip ( cut a few inches away if you can - wear a mask or ask someone to do it who has a band saw). Why??? well.. it looks MUCH NICER than a chip with pins bent, and you can always desolder it later at another time. I have a bundle of the mobile intels, they are on small pluggable boards and they look fine. .. I also have intels that I cut out of boards, they look cool as well. |
