EDIT: OOOOOOPS! Sorry, this section is for 1982 and earlier. Please admins, be so kind and move this post

Hi there,

I am soooooo sorry to ask this, but I really don't know what to do.

I assebled a Pentium II machine, but it won't work. That's not the point - I'm used to that Wink

But this time I can't do all the repair by myself. All peripheral components are tested and work (except the CPUs - I have 2 Pentium II Klamath with 66 MHz).
I don't get any signal by the buzzer and the screen stays black.

I've had that before with a non-matching Pentium IV on a different computer. So I'm quite certain, that this time it's the same problem.

The motherboard might not match the CPU. It's a Gigabyte 6CXC and the specs say, that it supports both Pentium II and III - specs say it supports "Auto/100/110*/120*/133/140*/150* MHz FSB".

So might the 66 MHZ be the problem?

Best from Stuttgart, Germany, yeah, that's where all your Mercedeses and Porsches come from Wink

Being an 820 chipset, it is probably not aware of the Klamath core - and I read the same as you, that 100 MHz FSB is the lowest.
Furthermore, the Klamath cores are 2.8V, Deschutes and Katmai are 2.0V - probably the on-board voltage regulator does not support the higher voltage of the Klamath, then..

Hey fellow German,

I have several pentiums in my scrap box. No idea if they work. You can have them if you pick them up. I live like 80km from Stuttgart.

Grüße,
Slive
