Would a pentium 3 CPU that has a FSB of 133mhz work in a pentium 3 motherboard that has a 100mhz FSB?

yep - you will need to fiddle with your motherboard settings to get the most out of them though.

I would have to leave the multiplier the same and the CPU speed will be slower right? like a 733mhz would run at 550 mhz with a 100mhz FSB?

You must be sure about that mobo support Coppermine CPUs. Than you can combine with FSB.

You would see such a huge reduction in performance. You can pick up P3 100MHz FSB chips off Ebay quite cheap now. We are talking Socket 370 and not slot 1 aren't we?

That may make it a little harder to find something suitable for you. I may have an 800MHz Slot 1 100FSB in the workshop.

What motherboard and system are you currently running and what do you proposing you upgrade to?

The motherboard is currently running a 2.8v 66mhz FSB cpu, but it supports a 100 mhz FSB, the CPU I want is a 1.65V, 133mhz FSB. Would my motherboard support a lower voltage?

66mhz FSB means it's set for a Celeron Slot one.
..I diffenately recommend a Pentium Wink

Well 2 things....

First ,you need a multiplier of 5.5x
Second a FSB of 133mhz.

This is for a Pentium3- 733mhz.

I'll give you a list or CPU's that you can pick for your 100FBS board:

It would be better to pick one of these:

CPU CLASS /CPUSPEED /CPUCLOCK /FSB(All at 100mhz)

P2 350 3.5X
P2 400 4X
P2/3 450 4.5X
P3 500 5X
P3 550 5.5X
P3 600 6X
P3 650 6.5X
P3 700 7X
P3 750 7.5X
P3/CELERON 800 8X
P3/CEL 850 8.5X
P3/CEL 900 9X
P3/CEL 950 9.5X
P3/CEL 1000 10X
P3/CEL 1100 11X
P3/CEL 1200 12X
P3/CEL 1300 13X
P3/CEL 1400 14X

AS for your P3-733mhz, not sure it would work properly.(underclocked).

I also forgot to mention, you might need a "slocket" socket370 to slot one converter., for some of the chips mentioned above Wink .
