|
|
I've been testing my 486 processors this afternoon, to see how many are in working condition and how many are dead. Out of 47 tested chips I have 5 that are dead (one of them gets part way through post then fails on an interrupt failure). That not a bad result, considering that most are bought as untested Unfortunately those that are dead are not chips I had duplicates of, although I think they will be cehap to replace - the only reason i don't ahve dupliacates is because they are so common I don't keep buying them
The odd results are two DX4 overdrives.
DX4ODP100 (SZ924) and DX4ODPR100 (SZ959) are both supposed to have a bus speed of 33MHz, but won't boot at that speed. Both, however, pass the POST with a FSB of 25MHz. Is that normal? Is it just internally that they run at an equivalent to 100MHz? The DX4ODPR75 runs at the same speed as the two at 100, so I'm not sure if I should consider the chips as faulty or not.
Also, if you read this Genna, SZ924 isn't on the site - I did an sSpec search to find info. I'll put that in another thread in case you don't see this... _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

yeah, it was fine with all the normal DX4-100, and I ahve used it with AMD DX4-100 in the past.
It's got settings for most PGA 486 chips, and although not marked on the board the jumpers can be set for 20MHz as well (which was handy, haven't found a setting for 16MHz yet though). _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

what mobo are you using?
ODPR replaces a standard 486
ODP 's are designed to go into a special overdrive socket |

It's a UM4980 VER 2.1, with jumper settings for a wider range than almost all boards I ahve come across, all amrked on the board so I didn't need to search again for a manual.
Both the ODP and the ODPR worked at 75MHz and not at 100, in the standard Socket 3 _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.
