Heh i bought a pair of the Intel 8086K's when they came out, one to run, and one to keep boxed. I was born a month after the 8086 came out in June of 78, so it's a 40th birthday present as well..
The 8086K that i'm running is actually from late 2017, so Intel must have been starting to get the better binned 8700K's around that time. |

Would've been a great signature in an overclocking forum |

It have 133A on +12V line. I remember times where ~ 15A was very good result |
2 Video cards but 2 connectors each, then the M.2 raid card needs one, and each water pump so they get used up fast. |

Intel markings have gotten quite boring, but that AMD is awesome |
As a collector I've frowned at AMD for years for making the same boring looking CPUs since Socket 754. With Ryzen (and especially Threadripper) this era may be over. I like its looks very much. Thumbs up for them! |

What might be real over kill is the new power supply I just picked up lol |
No such thing as overkill |
It's called future-proofing.
It always pays to have a big PSU, usually if you check the datasheets they're most efficient somewhere between 50-70% load, then they start dumping way more heat, varies by each make and model of course.
This really is one of those things I can never put enough emphasis on when talking to people about building a machine. Skimping on the PSU never works out, ever, not if it's in a system you rely upon.
Also totally approve of the SSD array, not ready to go there myself due to capacity limitations, but it's great to see what they're capable of and it'll be awesome when that leap can finally be made. Looks like a nice rig anyway.
Back on the PSU, same boat here. My rig runs a Seasonic X1050, it doesn't need that much power, it will never take the PSU anywhere near its limits, but if something goes wrong the PSU will stomach it. It also leaves room for upgrades later, currently the GPU is weak (GT 730) and there's room to upgrade the CPU some way, that's when it'll pay off - when the system has lasted long enough to accept such upgrades without having to replace a PSU, because it has the capacity to take it and has run cold its whole life. So yeah, my point is you're gonna be glad you made that decision in the long run.
The 'Zenith' on the motherboard box though... Chaintech wants a word with you, Asus. |

So some good news, I ordered the 2920x today however I have a new water block for the 2950x so I just took it out of my current system and cleaned up for some side by side photos. I can email them to you so they will be of better quality. I’ll upload low resolution versions here later today. |

I just realized I totally dropped the ball on progress pics and I’ve been done for a while. Oh well.
But be thankful I can’t upload videos or you would have seen the full craziness of my RGB work lol. |
